Job Summary:
Griffin & Furman, LLC is a growing public accounting firm serving businesses and individuals throughout Southeast Louisiana. We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee internal financial operations, strengthen reporting and controls, and partner with firm leadership to support continued growth.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys ownership, structure, and process improvement in a collaborative professional-services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting:

Oversee firm-wide accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for firm leadership.

Maintain strong internal controls and ensure accuracy and consistency across financial data.
Payroll, Benefits & Compliance:

Manage payroll processing and related filings.

Oversee retirement plan contributions (401(k)), reporting, and coordination with providers.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and firm policies.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow:

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Monitor cash flow, working capital, and firm performance metrics.

Support leadership with financial insights to guide strategic decisions.
Process Improvement & Systems:

Evaluate and improve accounting workflows and documentation.

Collaborate with operations and leadership to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Support financial systems, reporting tools, and process automation initiatives.
Collaboration & Leadership Support:

Work closely with the COO and Managing Partner to align financial operations with firm strategy.

Serve as a trusted internal resource for financial questions and analysis.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required).

5+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a professional services or public accounting environment.

Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.

Experience with payroll, benefits administration, and general ledger management.

Proficiency with accounting software and Excel; QuickBooks experience a plus.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

Salary Range
$70,000-$90,000/year
